Jimmy didn't need told again where Long Off was...

One Day International. The Grange, Edinburgh.
Scotland v England. Match abandoned due to rain.

No that we should be surprised, but the One Day match between England and Scotland was washed out due to the Scottish rain which descended upon Edinburgh early in England's innings. Chasing a winning total of 157, England were forced to give it up when 10 for no wicket. Earlier, Flintoff's return to the One Dayers proved a successful one with three for 21 as Scotland were restricted to 157/9 in an innings reduced to 44 overs, with Gavin Hamilton top scoring ith 60.

Yes, that's the same Gavin Hamilton who got played one Test for England, got two pairs against South Africa, and never played again. Still, he did well this time, rescuing Scotland from a perilous position of 11/3 after Tim Bresnan, who also impressed with the ball, removed Coetzer and Poonia for ducks.

England play South Africa at The Riverside on Wednesday in a one-off Twenty20 match. What's the odds on getting rain up there too...
