At least Bangladesh aren't taking it lying down...

Bangladesh set for a hiding. Again

South Africa finished on 405 for 0 at stumps on the first day of the second test against Bangladesh, just nine runs short of the world record first wicket partnership.

Captain Graeme Smith finished the day on 223 alongside fellow opener Neil McKenzie who made 169 as Bangladesh’s attack struggled to make any inroads into the South African pair.

It means the previous world record of 412, set back in 1955 by Indian pairing Pankaj Roy and Vinoo Mankad against New Zealand,  is set to be smashed unless Bangladesh come up with an unlikely wicket. But it looks like it’s going to be a long five, probably four, days for the Bangladeshis, who are certain to face more calls for their test status to be revoked unless they can salvage an unlikely draw.
